Review - first impressions
I was scouring high and low for a new ARPG on iOS, and ran into Heros Curse by Noxus. This game immediately grabbed my attention as being a twin touch stick + skill ARPG, with movement on one stick and skills on the other. Quite similar to other titles, such as Monster hunter or Titan quest. The artwork leave a little to your imagination and might not be enough to sway current gen console gamers. Gameplay, is tough. Difficulty, controls, and zoomed in. The avatar is about the only thing on the screen. You cant zoom in and out. First attack misses due to the lack of auto-aim/assist. Your attack goes where you are facing, straight forward. After becoming a little more familiar moving around you now deduce that your attack fires when you let go of the well placed ( right hand thumb) attack button. Pretty soon you can walk up, fire once, walk away, and never have to worry about getting hit (on normal). I dont know if this is expected, but its very easy to attack enemies without them ever hitting you or coming back, almost like dogs on a leash. Im out of potions and potions are extremely expensive in the town shop. I had made 500 gold, enough 5 potions, and saw the in-app purchases. The whole in game shops (both equipment and potions) is for sale for cash. I think Ill have to pass for now, but Ill check back due to pretty decent control response.l also think if they optimized enough to zoom out and fixed enemy learning, they might catch my attention again for another impression.
Unplayable.
Cant choose your gender. Only one character slot. But none of this matters because the game is entirely unplayable. Starting a new game just brings up a menu that cant be closed.
No icloud support? Really?
In addition to the fact that for a "premium" PAID game to only allow for ONE character slot....I was only to be disappointed yet again when I realized I cant play on my iphone and continue where I left off on my ipad. I mean ive played games made by 12 year olds that have better options then this "premium" game
